Harry Corbett started it all in 1948, when he bought a little teddy bear hand puppet to entertain his children whilst they were in Blackpool on holiday! For some reason he was drawn to the little yellow puppet and couldn't leave him on the shelf. He coloured his ears black and called him SOOTY. The rest is history. 

Harry enjoyed many television appearances, theatre tours, his very own SOOTY television show and he was awarded an OBE for charitable services in 1976. After Harry retired, SOOTY was in "good hands" with Harry's son, Matthew Corbett, who was SOOTY's partner in custard pies, water pistols and mischievous magic from 1976 up until 1998. Matthew
